CDC ( Center for Disease Control ) Report

The majority of the world remains threat level 4 (highest) for travel. Exceptions include Greenland, Australia and Southeast Asia. Restrictions continue for travelers trying to enter the US from China, Iran, Europe, UK, Ireland, Brazil and South Africa.

National ensemble forecasts predicts 4,400 – 12,900 new deaths the week ending March 27 bringing the total to 540,000 – 564,000. This would represent an increase over the previous weeks.

National ensemble forecasts predicts 1,900 – 10,000 new hospitalizations on March 29. This would represent an increase over the previous weeks.

National ensemble forecasts predict 166,000 – 563,000 new cases reported the week ending March 27. This would represent a decrease over the previous weeks.

As of 3/8/21, 116,363,405 have been delivered, 90,351,750 have been administered, 58,873,710 receiving 1 or more doses and 30,686,881 individuals receiving 2 doses.

As of 3/8/21, 2,672 cases of B.1.1.7 have been reported in 48 states, 68 cases of B.1.351 have been reported in 17 states and 13 cases of P.2 have been reported in 7 states.

The highest reporting countries for this week were: United States of America (472 904 new cases, a 2% decrease), Brazil (373 954 new cases, a 18% increase), France (149 959 new cases, a 14% increase), Italy (112 029 new cases, an 32% increase) and India (105 080 new cases, a 21% increase).

As of 3/1/21, 106 countries have reported cases of B.1.1.7, 56 countries have reported cases of B.1.351 and 29 countries have reported cases of P.1.

Globally, the number of new cases reported increased 7% compared to the previous week.

Deaths continue to decrease, a 6% decrease as compared to the previous week. The global case increase was driven by increases in the Eastern Mediterranean (14%), South-East Asia (9%), Europe (9%) and the Americas (6%). Possible reasons for this increase include the continued spread of more transmissible variants of concern (VOCs).
